ABOUT THE STUDIO

My studio brings together four disciplines—photography, textiles, fine art, and architecture.
Each begins in a different place, but all are connected by the same way of looking: observing what is visible, discovering what is hidden, imagining what could be, and giving an idea form.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Witness of the Visible

Photography begins with noticing.

I photograph the world as I encounter it—light, landscape, people, movement, weather, and the small moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed. I am less interested in documenting a place exactly as it appears than in capturing the atmosphere and feeling of being there.
The camera gives me a way to slow down, look closely, and preserve something fleeting.

TEXTILES

Color Hidden in the Landscape

The landscape holds more color than we can see.

Plants, bark, cones, leaves, flowers, and other materials become sources of pigment. Through heat, water, time, minerals, and experimentation, colors emerge that are often completely unexpected.
No two dye baths behave the same way. I embrace those variations.

FINE ART

Portraits of the Unseen

Some places exist only in the imagination.

My paintings begin with fragments—memories, landscapes, interiors, color relationships, architecture, and imagined spaces. Through layering, reduction, and abstraction, familiar references begin to shift into something less literal.
I am interested in the space between recognition and uncertainty: when something feels known but cannot quite be named.
The paintings are not descriptions of a particular place. They are attempts to give form to atmosphere, memory, and things that are felt more easily than explained.

ARCHITECTURE

Ideas Made Real

Every place begins as an idea.

For more than three decades, I have designed spaces shaped by people, place, material, light, and use. The work begins with an idea, but architecture asks that idea to withstand reality—to function, to endure, and to become part of someone else's experience.
I am interested in the relationship between concept and execution: how something imagined moves through drawing, collaboration, material, and construction until it becomes a place that can actually be occupied.
